Erketch, a village not to be missed!

On the way to the village enjoy the beautiful scenery, the pasture grounds and the lavender massif. Picturesquely situated at an altitude of 530 m this village will grab you with its unique charm. Here nature, traditions and everyday life coexist together. Our first stop in the village is the house with the Wool-Carding Machine where an old couple will meet you and you will see the old woman spinning on a spindle. Let your hosts demonstrate the rattling mechanism of this charming, age-old tool much in demand by local shepherd families. Learn how the locals occupy their time in the winter months producing a rather potent brandy in their own distillery! Savour the most delicious lunch with home produced cheeses, salads accompanied by barbequed meats, cooked in the cool of the glade (picnic spot). Take if you wish a donkey ride or simply enjoy a cooling drink. This is an excellent day for all the family.

Itinerary:

-        You will be picked up in the morning from nearest pick up point to your hotel. Accompanied by your English or German- speaking guide, you will travel in an air- conditioned bus to the village of Erketch.

-        On the way to the village enjoy the beautiful scenery, the pasture grounds and the lavender massif.

-        First stop is the house with the Wool-Carding Machine.

-        The donkey carts wait in the village. The guide helps in getting into the carts and in dividing the tourists.

-        Second stop is the distiller where you will have the possibility to taste the most popular alcoholic drink of Bulgaria- the brandy.

-        After the visit the tourists get into the carts and travel to the glade for the picnic - buffet in country style (biospot) – typical Bulgarian dishes made of natural products – tomatoes, cucumbers, white and yellow cheese, sheep’s yoghurt, pancakes, honey from a pot, fruits, soft drinks and beer.

-        Duration of the stay on the glade 2 hours and a half.

-        Walking for about 10 minutes to the edge of the village and getting into the bus.

-        At the end of the tour you will be dropped off on nearest pick-up point to your hotel
